Very deep purple, amazing aromas, ripe extraction yet this variety also retains healthy acidity. No wonder they can bottle-age for 30 years. Have fun with this wine! The last report I heard, there are only about 40 acres of Charbono in California, Gary Heitz being my fruit source in Calistoga. |

In 1969, when I was in high school, our good friend and neighbor, Bill Miller took me to Inglenook, a company that he worked for, and he let me taste the 1968 Inglenook Charbono out of the cask. Pivotal moment! I was so overwhelmed by the intensity and character of that wine, I decided then and there to become a winemaker. Bill steered me toward the Davis programs and off I went. So, I would like to dedicate this inaugural Foley Charbono vintage to Bill Miller for his important contributions to my career. Three cheers to Bill Miller! |
This Charbono, paired with
Philippe
Jeanty's Coq Au Vin, and I am in heaven...
